After the wine region, a transfer takes us to Mtskheta, the historical heart of Georgia. This is where the climbing begins! We brave passes, cycling towards Shatili and Mutso, among others. A highlight is the Chaukhi pass at 3340 metres, an ...

    Frequently Asked Questions

    All the FAQs for Georgia

Are there any age limits on the trips?

Minimum age is 18, no maximum age is provided. As long as your health allows and you get a GO from your doctor you can join. However, having the right fitness level is essential for these cycling tours.

    Where do we sleep?

We sleep alternately in tents, local guesthouses and eco-lodges. Alternating from country to country. On some days, we let ourselves get a little more pampered. Luggage is taken from place A to B by jeep, so you don't have to carry your luggage on the bike.

    What do we eat?

Lots of goodies, local and fresh. Depends from country to country. We consume breakfast and dinner at our sleeping place. We have lunch on the road. Sometimes it's a packed lunch or provided by our crew. We obviously take vegetarians (and/or other diets to the extent possible) into account.

    Good causes?

In Rwanda, among others, we support local projects focused on sustainability and community development. Specific projects are selected per destination and may vary per trip. You can choose to sponsor cycling clothes, bike parts, helmets and children's books, depending on local needs. This is obviously not compulsory.

    MTB or gravel bike?

The course can be done by either MTB or gravel bike. Depending on the destination, there may be variation in the course and the suitable bike. We recommend using wider tyres for extra grip and comfort if needed. Your own bike flies with us or you can rent an MTB locally. At most destinations, you can hire e-MTB (limited).

    What about my fitness/health?

Good fitness is a must, as is good health. Consult your GP for personal advice. We cooperate with tankantwerpen.be for a bike fit, full cardiac check-up and training programme.

    What about insurance?

Everyone takes their own travel insurance. Check whether your insurance covers repatriation for the relevant countries and definitely consider cancellation insurance.

Do we get a travel book with extra info?

Each participant will receive a road book with the cycling route description and a wealth of practical and tourist information. Before departure, you will of course also receive the gpx routes that you can transfer to your GPS at home (Garmin or Wahoo).

Is there a bike mechanic along on the trip and who is responsible for my safety?

Yes, during our adventure bike tours, there is always a professional bike mechanic along with a medical expert in our crew. We also work with local guides and staff who help us with logistics and culture.

What about my safety on the road?

Your safety is our top priority. Each participant is given a GPS tracker that allows our crew to track your position, should you get lost or if you follow a different route. In addition, everyone takes their own GPS with them. Our two experienced cycling guides accompany the group and know the routes inside out. As for safety in Rwanda, although the country has a turbulent past, today it is one of the most stable countries in Africa and the roads and conditions are safe for travellers.

Can I cycle at my own pace?

Absolutely! We understand that everyone has their own rhythm. In our experience, the group often splits into two or three smaller groups; we make sure everyone can move at their own pace. The slower group leaves earlier to be able to eat together during lunch. Each participant gets the correct route via gpx.

    What luggage should I bring?

Before departure, you will receive a detailed luggage list so you can be well prepared to set off. During the trip, your luggage will be transported in the truck to the next accommodation. A jeep will always stay near the cyclists, equipped with a bike mechanic and extra supplies such as water, sunscreen, snacks, cameras and other small items you need along the way.

What documents do I need for the trip?

Make sure your travel documents are in order! You will need a valid passport that is valid for at least 6 months. Depending on the country, certain vaccinations and or a visa are required.

Will information sessions be organised in advance?

Yes, we organise several (online) info sessions before departure. These sessions give you more information about the trip, such as luggage, cycling routes, places to stay and other practical matters. This is also an opportunity to ask your questions and prepare well for the adventure!

How can I stay in touch with the home front?

Upon arrival, you will receive or buy a local SIM card with mobile data so you can make calls, send messages with the crew or keep your home front updated on your adventures.

Which airline are we traveling with?

We are flying to Georgia with Turkish Airlines, with a stopover in Istanbul.

How many participants are in the group?

For Georgia, the group consists of a maximum of 14 participants. We deliberately keep the groups small to promote agility and a close group dynamic. Especially in the mountains, sleeping accommodations are quite limited.

How many days will we be cycling & what is the difficulty level?

In Georgia, we cycle for 7 days. The route is approximately 400km and 8,000hm. A very good basic fitness level is required. Climbs are intense!

How much do you pay for this adventure?

Georgia Summer edition Jul 2025: €2,775* + from €35 bike rental per day** or €310 bike transport*** (limited e-MTBs available -€80 per day)

Included: Direct flight, accommodations, breakfast, dinner, and supplies along the way, bike transport, GPS routes, baggage transport from A to B, etc.
